The overall objective of the program is to accelerate the reintegration and career development of promising scientists with internationally recognized scientific results in Bulgarian higher education institutions and scientific organizations. The program will stimulate the development of research potential in Bulgaria as a necessary fundamental step for creating a sustainable scientific and innovation environment and for the development of a competitive high-tech economy in Bulgaria. The long-term goal of the national program is a significant increase in the quality of human resources for conducting scientific research in Bulgaria at the highest level, alongside the realization of a lasting positive change in the institutional culture for supporting and conducting scientific research.
The specific objectives include: a) attracting promising scientists with internationally recognized scientific results to Bulgaria and supporting their rapid reintegration into Bulgarian higher education institutions and scientific organizations; b) encouraging and supporting the intensive research activity of scientists on original and competitive topics, without restricting the topics and scientific fields of the research; c) supporting the building of a critical mass of promising scientists in a given field, with internationally recognized scientific results, allowing for the development of modern competitive scientific directions in Bulgaria; d) increasing the quality of higher education in Bulgaria through the transfer of modern scientific directions, knowledge, skills, and technologies to the educational process and contributing to the discovery of new talents in Bulgaria; e) transfer of knowledge and skills to the host organization.
The "Petar Beron and US - 2025" scholarships provide financial support to researchers engaged in international mobility in eight scientific fields. Applicants must indicate at the submission stage, which of the eight scientific fields their research topic falls under:

Economic Sciences (ECO)
Informatics and Engineering Sciences (ENG)
Environment and Earth Sciences (ENV)
Life Sciences (LIF)

Proposals will be evaluated within the selected scientific field.

Additional information on deadlineПредложенията следва да се подадат по електронен път в Информационната система за управление и наблюдение на средства от ЕС в България 2020 (ИСУН2020) до 17:30 часа на 30.04.2026 г. на адрес https://eumis2020.government.bg/. Оригиналните подписани документи, посочени в Общото ръководство за националните научноизследователски програми (Приложение 1 и Приложение 2), трябва да бъдат представени на български език. Ако документите са представени във връзка с други конкурси на ФНИ за годината, те важат и за този конкурс. Предложението следва да бъде изготвено на английски език от изследователя в сътрудничество с кандидатстващата организация, която се представлява от научния ръководител в рамките на предложението. Перспективният изследовател и научния ръководител не могат да бъдат едно и също лице. Административните форми се подават и на български език. Документите следва да са подписани или с електронни подписи, или подписани и сканирани. Всички декларации се прилагат също или електронно подписани, или подписани и сканирани. При електронното подаване всички документи трябва да бъдат подадени в съответните позиции на формата за електронно подаване на проектните предложения. Крайното подаване се извършва не по-късно от 17:30 часа (Българско време) на датата на крайния срок за подаване на проектните предложения чрез използване на електронен подпис от ръководителя на базовата организация и е описано в техническите указания (отделен файл). Подаването на предложението (и други действия, които следват тази процедура, като например оттегляне) е отговорност на базовата организацията. За да се избегне пропускане на крайния срок, предложението следва да се изпрати възможно най-скоро. Допустимо е изследовател да участва само с едно предложение.
